Destination of the Month - January
Whistler, British Columbia
If you don’t want to leave Canada this year, Whistler is the place to be in the winter or summer!
Hit Whistler or Blackcomb Mountain on skis or a snowboard mid-November to mid-May. The mountains are connected by a Peak to Peak gondola that is operational nearly year round.
The mountain becomes a bike trail in the summer and even hosts a BMX competition. It is also a great place to hike in the summer. It’s a cool feeling to be wearing a t-shirt while being surrounded by snow-capped peaks.
Whistler village is very quaint, and easy to walk around. Part of the village is actually vehicle free! There are many restaurants, cafes, bars and shops to check out. The village area has lots of great hotel options and is the best place to stay.
Explore the outskirts of Whistler. There are lots of lakes to see around the area and even beaches. Kayak, canoe, paddleboard or if it’s a really hot day you can swim in the chilly waters.
Visit the popular Train Wreck site along the Cheakamus River. It is a beautiful trail with awesome views of the wild river.
Relax and soak in the mountain views at the Scandinave Spa.
The Sea to Sky Highway connecting Whistler to Vancouver is an attraction itself. The views are breath taking. If you’re not driving, keep your camera ready!
