Destination of the Month - December
The Cook Islands

The Cook Islands is an idyllic island destination located in the South Pacific Ocean. It is a great alternative to a Caribbean island winter getaway. Compared to most idyllic islands, The Cook Islands is much more affordable. A flight to this amazing island takes about 19 hours with 1 stop along the way from Toronto; a long flight but it is well worth it once you arrive. There is never really a bad time to visit the Cook Islands, always warm and always sunny!

It is an island on the rise of popularity but not yet commercialized by any means. The culture and sense of community is so evident here because of the size of the island. Rarotonga is the main island that people like to visit and Rarotonga is 32 kilometres in circumference and can be thought of as one large resort.

It is easy to get around while in the Cook Islands! No traffic lights and there is one main road that circles the entire island. Whether you rent a car, rent a scooter or rely on the daily shuttle that circles the island. The daily shuttle is easy to use, there are two shuttle buses that circle daily and all you need to do is give them a wave and a smile and they will stop to pick you up.

Activities include whale watching, kitesurfing, mingling with the locals, snorkeling, jeep safaris, lagoon cruises and so much more.

There are no all-inclusive resorts in the Cook Islands. Many are boutique style hotels, holiday homes, villas and resorts. Nonetheless, many will provide daily breakfast or come with equipped kitchens.

Goway offers great packages to the Cook Islands. There is an 8-day, 15-day and 29-day duration, all of which include your air out of Toronto.
